SENIOR MENTAL HEALTH
Depression in the elderly is often overlooked and untreated. Sometimes it is ignored as if it were a “normal” part of aging. Depression can closely resemble dementia in the elderly and can produce a syndrome known as “pseudodementia.” UCS will help diagnose depression and/or cognitive deficits by testing seniors for these and other psychological issues.
Psychological testing is a sophisticated method to help discern cognitive and emotional symptoms. Often then do overlap, but memory testing can indicate specific areas of deficit, whereas depression testing can elucidate emotional problems if they exist. Serial testing can track progression or regression. UCS has a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in psychological and neuropsychological testing.
